Assistant Track Coach
For my EDGE project I wanted to be an assistant coach for a local track and field team. In my case, I was able to get a slot with Canyon View High School's track team. I worked with both the head coaches, as well fellow assistant coaches to better the students training, and overall improve their performance. Having been a distance runner myself, I mainly stuck around with the distance coaches and students. The coaches had a set training plan for the students to follow throughout the season in order to peak during important meets. My job mainly consisted of setting up and taking down cones, hurdles, and other equipment used. Also to call time and track it during practice. Last, I helped any of the other coaches in any way they needed me; whether that was holding a clipboard, running a drill, and occasionally give advice.
